Cane Syrup Snack Cake
Ingredients
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup sugar + additional to sprinkle on top
½ cup cane syrup
½ cup water
1 egg
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 ¼ cup self rising flour
1 cup all purpose flour
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl, beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
3. Add ginger, cinnamon, salt and baking soda to bowl, blend well.
4. Incorporate flours to make batter.
5. Grease a square cake pan. Pour batter into dish. Sprinkle with sugar.
6. Bake 35 minutes. Check if center has set. If center has not set, cover cake edges and return dish to oven for additional 5-10 minutes.
7. Allow to cool completely. Cut and serve.
