Dark Chocolate Cream Scones
Ingredients
6 Tbsp butter, room temp
½ cup heavy cream, plus 1 Tbsp cream
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp sugar, plus some for sprinkling
1 Tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 heaping cup flour
1 heaping cup whole wheat flour
½ cup very finely chopped dark chocolate
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a large baking stone.
2. In a large bowl, mix together butter, cream, egg, vanilla and sugar.
3. Add baking powder, salt and flours to bowl. Knead into dough.
4. On a lightly floured surface, knead chocolate into dough until evenly distributed. Roll dough to ½ inch thickness and cut into triangles. Place on prepared baking stone.
5. Brush scones with cream and sprinkle with sugar.
6. Bake 18-20 minutes, until golden.
