Sorghum Snaps

Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
¼ cup lard
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup sorghum syrup
2 eggs
½ tsp butter flavor extract
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
3 heaping cups flour
½ cup granulated cane sugar

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, beat together butter, lard, brown sugar and sorghum.
3. Add eggs, extract, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, allspice and black pepper. Mix well.
4. Incorporate 3 cups flour to form dough.
5. Dust surface and a rolling pin with flour. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
6. Pour cane sugar into a shallow dish. Lightly press cutouts in sugar prior to placing on ungreased baking sheets.
7. Bake 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool.
