Ham n' Turnip Mash
Ingredients
6 large turnips and greens
2 Tbsps butter
2 cloves roasted garlic
½ cup fully cooked smoked ham, shredded
4 pieces bacon, cooked, oil reserved
1 Tbsp Bragg apple cider vinegar
½ lemon, squeezed juice
1 Tbsp sugar
Salt and pepper
Directions
1. Trim turnip greens and tips. Peel and quarter.
2. In a large stockpot, cover turnips with salted water and boil tender. Drain. Return turnips to pot with roast garlic and butter. Mash with a potato masher. Stir in ham.
3. In a bowl, whisk together bacon grease, cider vinegar, lemon juice, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Pour dressing over mash.
5. Serve on a bed of lightly sautéed greens with bacon.
