Deep Dish Vege Pizza

Ingredients for crust
1 Tbsp lard
½ cup warm water
½ tsp Dickie Bird Farm Garlic Salt
½ tsp basil
½ tsp Dickie Bird Farm Crushed Red Pepper
2 cups self-rising flour plus additional flour for rolling
½ tsp baking powder

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, soften lard in warm water.
3. Add garlic salt and herbs.
4. Knead in flour and baking soda.
5. Roll dough out on a floured surface. Place in a round baking dish. Prick bottom with a fork. Bake 12-15 minutes.

Ingredients for filling
1/8 cup pizza sauce plus additional sauce for serving
1 handful fresh spinach
1 handful mushrooms, sliced
1/8 cup red sweet pepper, sliced
1/8 cup yellow sweet pepper, sliced
2 green onions chopped
½ cup mozzarella cheese

1. Spread pizza sauce over crust.
2. Distribute spinach over sauce. Sprinkle with mushrooms, peppers and onions. Top with cheese.
3. Bake an additional 15 minutes. Finish under broiler until cheese is hot and bubbly.
4. Serve hot with extra sauce.
