Fried Pickles

Ingredients for fried pickles
1 (16 oz) jar pickle chips
1 cup self-rising flour
½ cup yellow cornmeal
Dickie Bird Farm Garlic Salt
Cayenne pepper
1 cup water
Vegetable oil for frying

Ingredients for tartar sauce
1 cup mayo
1/3 cup relish
2 Tbsp chopped green onion
2 Tbsp lemon juice
Dash hot sauce
Pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients well

1. Drain pickles. Blot dry on paper towels.
2. Bring ½ inch oil to frying temperature 350-375 degrees.
3. Combine flour and cornmeal in a shallow dish. Season with garlic salt and pepper. Add water to create batter.
4. Preheat oven to warm.
5. Dip pickles in batter, then fry each side golden. Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Continue to fry small batches.
6. Keep in warm oven until serving.
