Candied Black Walnut and Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients for candied walnuts
2 Tbsp butter
1 egg white
Dash salt
1/8 cup sugar
½ cup corn syrup
1 cup black walnuts, chopped

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Place butter on a foil lined baking sheet. Melt in oven.
3. Meanwhile, whisk together egg white, salt, sugar and corn syrup until peaks form. Toss walnuts to coat. Spread over buttered baking sheet.
4. Bake 15 minutes. Cool completely. Break apart to crumble.

Ingredients for cookies
1 cup butter flavored Crisco
½ cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
6 drops black walnut flavor
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
2 eggs
2 ½ cups self-rising flour
Candied black walnuts
11 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, cream together Crisco and sugars.
3. Add flavoring, salt, soda and eggs. Beat to combine.
4. Incorporate flour to form dough.
5. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips with a spoon.
6. Drop dough by spoonful onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool.
